This is a sample
internet-based discussion group (which can also be used as a Newsgroup or Bulletin Board)
that we have created for our demo company's Marketing Department.
Discussion groups, Newsgroups and Bulletin Boards can be used internally for
inter-company or inter-department communications, or used externally for customer or
visitor communications.
You can have one or more discussion groups on your web. They can be restricted
to specific users or open to everyone. Content can be general, or subject, project,
department, or work-group specific.
Users can read, post, and reply to messages sent by others. Replies are linked
to the original message forming a message "thread", so that a user can read a
message and all of its replies grouped together. Messages can also be categorized, making
it easy to view all messages for one category, and users can search for messages based on
message content.
The Contents window on the left shows the titles of all messages posted to
this discussion group. Selecting a title will cause the corresponding article to be loaded
into this window. Indented titles are responses to original messages.
In a real discussion group, you would be able to Post a new message (starting a new thread), Reply to a message (continuing an existing thread),
and Search the messages for a word or pattern.
Although we have deactivated the "Post", "Reply" and "Search" functions in this demo,
you can still click on the messages so that you can take a look at their format.
Note: You may need to reload this page to see the most current entries.
